Captain Saurabh Kalia JAT Regiment This is the tale of the Indian Army Officer and the cruelty of the Pakistani Army at the time of the Kargil War. Capt. Saurabh Kalia is the unforgettable hero of our nation whose supreme sacrifice gives us goosebumps. This young man entered IMA in August 1997 and was commissioned on 12 December 1998. He was posted to the 4th Battalion Jat Regiment in the Kargil Sector. It was his fifth month in the Kargil sector, May 1999. Several patrols were conducted in the Kaksar Langpa area of Kargil to see if the snow had receded enough to re-occupy the area. The brave Kalia, who then held the rank of lieutenant, was the first Indian Army Officer to observe and report large-scale intrusion of the Pakistani Army.
